What is Ocean / Surf Ski Paddling?
Surf Ski paddling originates from Surf Life Saving , where competitors charge through the surf on Surf Ski’s & in a race known as the fastest in the surf.
Surf ski paddling has since evolved into a general water sport that uses a specialized, long, narrow kayak called a surf ski or ocean ski, designed for speed and performance in open water, like ocean waves and swells.
The paddler sits on top of the ski and uses a double-bladed paddle, with modified techniques compared to traditional kayaking to match the surf ski's design.
This sport requires a mix of paddling skills, balance, and wave-riding ability. While it's mainly practiced in coastal areas with suitable wave conditions, it can also be enjoyed on lakes & rivers. Surf ski paddling offers an exciting and challenging experience on the water.
